(Stone Mountain, Ga., October 11, 2024) – The Gwinnett County Police Department is investigating a homicide involving a person who was shot in the parking lot of a local extended stay hotel.

Officers initially responded to the scene after a 911 caller reported a shooting near the rear parking lot of the business.  When officers arrived, they discovered a male in the parking lot suffering from at least one gunshot wound.  That male was transported to local hospital where he died from his injuries.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene and learned that the victim was shot by a male suspect.  The information gathered so far indicates that the two men knew each other, however, the suspect was not on scene when officers arrived.

Information on the victim is being withheld until the next of kin is notified.  As more details are collected, additional information will be provided.
