UPDATE #1: (Norcross, Ga., October 17, 2024) –  The Gwinnett County Police Department has arrested Donte Dieal Newcomb-Donnelly (age 31, Norcross). Donte has been charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes. He is currently being held at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond. The victim in this case is Anthony Bernard Miles (age 41).

ORIGINAL: (Norcross, Ga., October 11, 2024) – The Gwinnett County Police Department is investigating a murder after responding to a report of a man being shot in front of a gas station.

Officers initially responded to 4169 Jimmy Carter Boulevard after receiving a 911 phone call about a man being shot in front of the location.  When officers arrived, they discovered a male suffering from at least one gunshot wound in the front parking lot of the business.  That male was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. 

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to the scene to begin speaking with witnesses and collecting evidence.  Currently, investigators do not have a motive for the shooting.  Preliminary information indicates that the victim was approached by a male in the parking lot before the shooting occurred.  After the shooting, the male suspect ran from the scene.  Officers set up a perimeter around the area but were unable to locate the suspect when they arrived.

The identity of the victim is being withheld until the next of kin can be notified.  As more information is learned, the police department will provide additional details.
