Holiday trash and recycling reminders
Posted: December 20, 2024
Christmas Day, December 25, and New Year’s Day, January 1, are trash and recycling holidays for residents who live in unincorporated Gwinnett.
Service will be delayed by one day following each holiday.
Residents who live within city limits should contact their solid waste hauler to find out if collection will be delayed due to the holiday.
Residents can find their hauler’s contact information at GwinnettCounty.com/ResidentialServices.
Set out guidelines
Trash, recyclables, bulk items, and yard trimmings are scheduled to be collected between 7:00am and 6:30pm on the day of service. Homeowners should place containers or items curbside prior to 7:00am on collection day. Trash and recycling carts should be placed within three feet of the curb or edge of the street and at least three feet away from any obstacles, preferably on the opposite side of the driveway from the mailbox with the trash cart lid opening facing the street.
Residents should use the approved solid waste cart provided by their haulers with trash placed inside with the lid closed. Any overflow will not be collected. When recycling curbside, ensure cans, bottles, and containers are rinsed before being placed in the cart and break down cardboard boxes.
