January 3, 2017 (Lawrenceville, Georgia) Gwinnett County Police are investigating a domestic related shooting involving three people that started shortly before 8am this morning at Madison at River Sound Apartments at 980 Walther Blvd in Lawrenceville. Police responded to the apartment complex due to a neighbor who reported a fight taking place at an adjacent apartment. Police made contact with an injured male in the parking lot who reported that he was pistol whipped by his roommate who had fled the scene in a dark colored SUV with a female. The injured man told police that he jumped from the second story balcony to escape the assault.

Police spotted the vehicle at 316 eastbound at Collins Hill Rd and initiated a traffic stop. As police approached the vehicle, they found the female passenger with a gunshot wound to the head. She is in critical condition at Gwinnett Medical Center. The suspect was taken into custody and was not injured. Detectives believe that the female was shot inside the vehicle. Detectives are still investigating the relationship between the three parties. They are also still investigating why the fight and shooting happened. We anticipate various charges being filed against the suspect shortly.

Additional information regarding names and charges will be released when they are available.
