IT’S A VIBE: GWINNETT CHAIRWOMAN SET TO SERVE AT ATLANTA VIBE’S INAUGURAL HOME OPENER

Region’s first professional women’s indoor volleyball team debuts season in Gwinnett

(Lawrenceville, Ga., Feb. 1, 2024) – Here’s one for the history books: Gwinnett’s first Black Chairwoman, Nicole Love Hendrickson, will join the region’s first women’s indoor volleyball team to serve the volleyball, during the team’s inaugural home opener today, on Feb. 1 at Gas South Arena in Duluth.

As a charter member of the Professional Volleyball Federation, the Atlanta Vibe, led by Head Coach Todd Dagenais, hopes to remain undefeated after a 2-0 victory on the road.

Chairwoman Hendrickson will officially welcome the team to Gwinnett during their inaugural home match and issue a proclamation touting their success and the county’s support.

“Let's cheer for the Atlanta Vibe as they begin their first season and bring good vibes and unity to the county and the region,” said Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson. “This women's volleyball team represents the strength and diversity of Gwinnett, and their journey is a celebration of resilience and determination. I’m thrilled to join the excitement and support these incredible athletes as they make history on the court.”

Colleen Durham Craig, a prominent Atlanta businesswoman, has also made history as the first female team owner in the league.

The 16-member roster includes athletes from across the country and the globe. In addition to the Atlanta Vibe, Gwinnett is also home to the Gwinnett Stripers Minor League Baseball team, the Atlanta Gladiators Hockey team, the Georgia Swarm professional indoor lacrosse team, as well as six NAIA collegiate teams from Georgia Gwinnett College.
