On September 10, Crump turned himself in at the Gwinnett County Jail. 

Update 1:

Detectives have identified the victim as Dareese Ellis (28 years old, Peachtree Corners).  The suspect has been identified as Jay Dante Crump (21 years old, Peachtree Corners).  Both Ellis and Crump were staying at the hotel when the shooting took place.  Crump is 6 foot 6 inches tall and weighs approximately 220 pounds. It is not known what he was last wearing. 

Crump has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Felony Murder, and Possession of a Firearm During a Felony.  His current location is unknown.  If anyone has any information to call Gwinnett Police or Crime Stoppers.

(Peachtree Corners, Ga., September. 5, 2023) – Gwinnett County Police detectives are investigating a shooting that left one man deceased.

Around 5:45 p.m. Gwinnett Police Officers from the Westside Precinct responded to a person shot call at 7049 Jimmy Carter Boulevard in Peachtree Corners.  Officers arrived and found one male deceased from a gunshot wound.  Witness on scene stated a possible suspect had left the scene on foot.  The only description was an adult black male. 

Uniform officers and the K-9 Unit started searching the area for a possible suspect, but one was not located.  Homicide detectives have started interviewing witness and believe there was some altercation between the victim and the suspect prior to the shooting.  The Crime Scene Unit is currently processing the scene for evidence.
