The Water Tower at Gwinnett
Millions of people depend on Lake Lanier and the Chattahoochee River to provide the water they use every day. The population is growing, and Gwinnett County alone is projected to have a population of 1.5 million by 2040. The main limiting factor to that growth will not be space—it will be the availability of water.
The mission of The Water Tower (TWT), is to be a thriving ecosystem of water innovation fueled by imagination, informed by research, and powered by pioneers. This will be accomplished by the creation of a campus and ecosystem to reimagine the future of water, with the public and private sectors of the water industry, via applied research, technology innovation, workforce development, and community engagement.
By working with dozens of partners, including research groups, universities, and international associations, TWT will guide policy makers and become an international destination for water research, and help water and wastewater utilities become more progressive through development and adoption of innovative technologies. TWT will also play a key role in workforce training and sharing the impact, significance, and economic benefits of those new technologies as well as the value of water with the public.
When complete, the campus will include state-of-the-art research laboratories, indoor and outdoor classrooms, multi-purpose space, an atrium featuring interactive education displays, and office space for water entrepreneurs and businesses. The Water Tower is another positive step Gwinnett's role as a leader in water resource innovation and will position Gwinnett County at the forefront of water research for decades to come.
