This class is three sessions, and each session is three hours. Participants are instructed on how to recognize the stimuli that triggers feelings of anger and are encouraged to speak freely about their emotions. The program focuses on issues of self-respect, self-image, and worthiness. Youth are shown new ways to solve personal problems without anger and violence while maintaining a good reputation and respect of their peers

Changing High Risk Attitudes in Teens (CHAT)

Changing High Risk Attitudes in Teens is one three-hour session. The program focuses on sexually transmitted disease prevention. Counselors educate youth using a proven Center for Disease Control curriculum and support youth by building the skills necessary to prevent sexually transmitted diseases.

Family Development

This is a multi-session class. Youth and their parents/guardians are required to attend all sessions. This class processes family rules, individual roles, setting and maintaining healthy boundaries, and how to implement effective change.

Cyber Safety

This is a two-session class. The first class is for parents/guardians and will focus on educating caregivers about the various social networking websites being utilized by today’s youth and the risks associated with social media use. The second class combines the youth and caregiver and will focus on how to stay safe when using various social networking websites.

Girls Rock!

This class is four sessions, and each session is two and a half hours. Participants are encouraged to speak freely about their emotions. The program focuses on issues of self-respect, self-image, and feelings of self-worth. In addition, the class discusses how the lack of positive self-image can result in anger issues. Youth are encouraged to discover their personal value and learn to control negative emotions and anger.

Insight

This 10-hour program meets for four weeks and provides information about substance use disorder and its effects. The classes use structured activities to increase awareness and provide suggestions for actions. The program encourages youth to evaluate and examine their behavior more closely. Parents are required to attend a brief orientation the first night of class.

Personal Development

This two-hour class focuses on how outside influences affect lives. Participants start to recognize how influences from peers, the media, and other sources can affect decision making. Further, youth learn they must be accountable for their actions. Facilitators encourage each participant to be a VIP (Very Important Person) who has vision, initiative, and perseverance.

Safety First

This eight-hour class meets for four weeks, covering two and a half hours each week. The program focuses on personal safety, Georgia’s weapons laws, and actions and consequences. Participants examine their own offenses and are guided to an understanding of its effects on themselves and the community.

Shoplifting Awareness

This session meets once for two and a half hours. Participants examine the cost and consequences of shoplifting. It further emphasizes the need for offenders to take responsibility for their actions.

Start Something

This 20-hour program meets two times per week for five weeks. The primary purpose of this program is to help youth become persons of character with a strong set of core values. Decision-making skills are enhanced through visual media, a mentoring relationship with facilitators, and group projects.
