2023 SPLOST Program: $482.6 million
Some of the notable projects include:
SR 124/Scenic Highway
- This is a major road category project to widen SR 124/Scenic Highway from SR 78 to Ronald Reagan Parkway from four to six travel lanes with a raised center median and turn lanes.
- Pedestrian facilities are included in the project.
SR 324/Auburn Road
- This is a major road category project to widen SR 324/Auburn Road from Fort Daniels Drive/Windsong Park Lane to Old Fountain Road/Jim Moore Road from two travel lanes to four travel lanes and turn lanes.
- This project includes pedestrian facilities, curb, gutter, and other drainage improvements.
Spout Springs Road at Flowery Branch Road and Duncan Creek Road
- This is a road safety and alignment project to improve the safety and operations of Spout Springs Road between Flowery Branch Road and Duncan Creek Road.
- This concept includes roundabouts on Spout Springs Road at Flowery Branch Road and Duncan Creek Road.
2017 SPLOST Program: $437.7 million
The Board of Commissioners in 2017 approved multiple roads projects totaling $437.7 million in anticipated 2017 SPLOST revenue through 2023. This amount includes $30.8 million allocated to joint County/city projects. The Transportation projects were divided into Tier 1 and Tier 2 lists. The Tier 1 project list assumes the County DOT’s portion will be $406.9 million over six years. An additional $48.6 million was identified in DOT Tier 2 projects that would be funded if the County collects more than expected. View the complete list of projects.
Some of the notable projects include:
SR 316/University Parkway and Harbins Road:
- Construction of a new grade-separated interchange with full access to include eastbound and westbound ramps
- Five-lane bridge with dual westbound left-turn lanes, a single eastbound left turn lane, and through lanes
- Collector-distributor road with direct access to Sugarloaf Parkway and the relocation of Alcovy Road
- Anticipated completion is 2022
SR 20/Nelson Brogdon Boulevard
- Widening of Nelson Brogdon Boulevard/SR 20 from Peachtree Industrial Boulevard to Buford Highway/SR 13/US 23
- The widening will provide three travel lanes in each direction along with the widening of the existing bridge over Railroad Avenue and the Norfolk-Southern Railroad
- Sidewalks are also included in the project
- Construction is anticipated to begin in 2022
Spalding Drive
- Widening of Spalding Drive from two to four lanes with a center lane from Winters Chapel Road to SR 140/Holcomb Bridge Road
- Replacement of the existing bridge over Crooked Creek and the addition of sidewalks and a multi-use path on Spalding Drive
- This project is a regional partnership with funding from Gwinnett County, the State Road and Tollway Authority, the city of Sandy Springs and the city of Peachtree Corners
Anticipated completion by mid-2022
2014 SPLOST Program: $218.2 million
When the 2014 SPLOST collections ended, funds collected for road improvements totaled $218 million. The SPLOST funds collected, coupled with funds from other agencies, allowed a total of $244 million to be appropriated for approximately 150 projects including school safety, road alignment, bridges, major roads, resurfacing, sidewalks, and unpaved road improvements. Many of the 2014 SPLOST projects are complete.
Some of the notable projects are:
Renovation of Rogers Bridge across the Chattahoochee River
- This project connected parks and trails near Rogers Bridge Road in Duluth and Johns Creek.
- Gwinnett County, Duluth, Fulton County, and Johns Creek all contributed $350,000 in matching funds.
- The city of Duluth managed the project.
Peachtree Industrial Boulevard from McGinnis Ferry Road to Moore Road
- The project added a third northbound and southbound travel lane and narrowed the median areas near the McGinnis Ferry Road intersection.
- Improvements provided safe avenues for pedestrians and traffic flow.
- The project included curb, gutter, and drainage improvements.
- The project is 1.08 miles in length.
SR 141 at Peachtree Industrial Boulevard
- The project added a second southbound on-ramp lane from SR 141/Peachtree Parkway onto Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and improved traffic flow.
- The project included curb, gutter, and other drainage improvements.
SR 84/Grayson Parkway at Rosebud Road
- The project made school safety and intersection improvements around Grayson Elementary School.
- Improvements included installation of turn lanes, widening, and traffic operation for the intersection of SR 84/Grayson Parkway and Rosebud Road.
- The project included sidewalks, curb, gutter, and other drainage improvements.
Suwanee Dam Road at West Price Road
- The school safety project improved the intersection of West Price Road and Suwanee Dam Road by realigning West Price Road and installing the traffic signal.
- The project included sidewalks, curb, gutter, and other drainage improvements.
Burns Road, Dickens Road, SR 378/Beaver Ruin Road Sidewalks
- These projects provided pedestrian flexibility options around Burns Road, Dickens Road, and Beaver Ruin Road.
- The sidewalk was 5-foot-wide.
- The projects included curb, gutter, and other drainage improvements.

When the 2009 SPLOST collections ended, funds collected for road improvements totaled $300.9 million. Those SPLOST funds collected, coupled with funds from other agencies, allowed a total of $415 million to be appropriated for approximately 150 projects including school safety, road alignment, bridges, major roads, resurfacing, sidewalks, and unpaved road improvements. Those SPLOST funds collected, coupled with funds from other agencies, allowed a total of $277.9 million to be spent on close to 150 projects including school safety, road alignment, bridges, major roads, resurfacing, sidewalks, and unpaved road improvements.
