Police Vehicles Replacement

Replacement includes:

• Replacing high-mileage Police emergency vehicles in 2014 – 2018 with new vehicles
• Vehicle replacement decreases the number of safety incidents

Public Safety Notification and Response System

Project includes:

• Equipping Gwinnett County schools with notification buttons that directly alert the Gwinnett County 911 Center when activated while simultaneously notifying the Gwinnett School Police and E-911 center
• Installation of video in designated areas around school campuses to provide feeds to the County’s 911 Center so that dispatchers can view designated areas of the school and relay information to responding public safety personnel
• Electronic door lock, access, and radio amplification systems will also be installed at designated schools based on need and available funding
• System will reduce response time to school emergencies

Ambulance Replacements

Replacement includes:

• Replace ambulance vehicles based on age and mileage
• Replacements due to safety requirements

Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus Upgrade

Upgrade includes:

• Upgrades to bring current packs up to the current 2013 NFPA standards
• Change-out of all old SCBA masks and regulators to current 2013 NFPA edition masks and CBRN regulators
• Change out of all old SCBA air pack harnesses to current 2013 NFPA edition harnesses
• Change out of current SCBA bottles from screw on type filler necks to quick connect filler necks
• Complete hydro testing of all department SCBA bottles  

Morgue and Medical Examiner’s Office

Project includes:

• New facility to replace the County morgue
• Provide operational efficiencies by combining morgue and Medical Examiner’s Office in single building
• 14,260 square foot facility off Hurricane Shoals Road in Lawrenceville

• Renovation of 42,000 square feet of space.
• Interior renovation completed in 2012 which consisted of conversion of the former shooting range into evidence storage. Re-design of office space to improve the efficiency of the work environment, replacement furniture, wall coverings, lighting, flooring, and bathroom renovations as well.
• In 2013, improvements to include re-roofing the facility and replacement of three HVAC units.
• Funding for this project is from 2001, 2005, and 2009 SPLOST funds.

Fire Apparatus Replacements

• Replacements needed due to safety requirements as identified by County policy and NFPA standards

Ambulance Replacements

Fire Repair Center
Construction Includes:

• An approximately 5,500 square foot facility to provide for year-round hose and ladder testing
• Provide for the relocation of the department’s Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus section
• Provide a space for the repair of small tools and equipment

Fire Academy Expansion
Expansion Includes:

• New building for classroom and technology upgrades, new apparatus driving pad, new three-bay apparatus building
• Enhancements to assist with conducting classes, training and planning sessions
• Funding for this project comes from 2005 and 2009 SPLOST program

Fire Station 31 Construction
Construction includes:

• New 14,300-square foot facility that will service Georgia Gwinnett College area
• Features include: community classroom, drive-through apparatus bay, industrial grade kitchen, workout room, shower and restroom, office space, and bunkrooms with private sleeping quarters

Fire Station 10 Relocation
Construction includes:

• New 14,300-square foot facility that will replace existing station at Russell Road and Buford Drive
• Features include: community classroom, drive-through apparatus bay, industrial grade kitchen, workout room, shower and restroom, office space, and bunkrooms with private sleeping quarters

• Replacement of existing system to transition from analog to digital platform
