Public Safety Notification and Response System

Project includes:

  • Equipping Gwinnett County schools with notification buttons that directly alert the Gwinnett County 911 Center when activated while simultaneously notifying the Gwinnett School Police and E-911 center
  • Installation of video in designated areas around school campuses to provide feeds to the County’s 911 Center so that dispatchers can view designated areas of the school and relay information to responding public safety personnel
  • Electronic door lock, access, and radio amplification systems will also be installed at designated schools based on need and available funding
  • System will reduce response time to school emergencies

  • New facility to replace the County morgue
  • Provide operational efficiencies by combining morgue and Medical Examiner’s Office in single building

2009 SPLOST Program: $52.4 million

Police Headquarters Improvements

  • Renovation of 42,000 square feet of space.
  • Interior renovation completed in 2012 which consisted of conversion of the former shooting range into evidence storage. Re-design of office space to improve the efficiency of the work environment, replacement furniture, wall coverings, lighting, flooring, and bathroom renovations as well.
  • In 2013, improvements to include re-roofing the facility and replacement of three HVAC units.
  • Funding for this project is from 2001, 2005, and 2009 SPLOST funds.

1988 SPLOST Program: $37.2 million

Pre-Trial Detention Center

Construction of the Pre-Trial Detention Center was funded with money from the 1988 SPLOST program. The 333,000-square-foot facility with 1,298 beds opened in 1991 and cost $37.2 million to build.

1985 SPLOST Program: $65.7 million

Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center

Gwinnett's first SPLOST program paid for construction of the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center (GJAC), a $65.7 million facility that opened in 1988. The east wing originally housed 28 courtrooms, offices for the District Attorney and court clerks. The building also contains an auditorium, jury assembly room, cafeteria, law library and Sheriff's offices in addition to County administrative offices in the west wing.
