(Lawrenceville, Ga., Nov. 13, 2024) – The Atlanta Regional Commission awarded Gwinnett County a Regional Excellence Award in the Visionary Planning category for the 2045 Unified Plan with its ‘Building the Daily Community’ concept. This award recognizes the County’s innovative approach to creating a vibrant, connected community designed to adapt to future growth.
The 2045 Unified Plan serves as a strategic guide for Gwinnett’s development over the next 20 years, addressing key areas such as transit, housing, public spaces and economic growth. Built on extensive community feedback, the plan is designed to enhance the daily lives of Gwinnett residents and support the county’s growth responsibly.
“This plan reflects our commitment to creating a welcoming Gwinnett for everyone who lives and works here,” said Gwinnett County Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson. “We’re building a place where people can thrive with access to opportunities right where they are. With a focus on accessible transit options, affordable housing and expanded public spaces, the 2045 Unified Plan prioritizes inclusivity and sustainability to meet the needs of Gwinnett’s diverse communities.
Gwinnett Planning and Development Director Matt Dickison emphasized the plan’s local impact.
