SUSPECT STEALS MERCEDES BENZ FROM DEALERSHIP
(Duluth, Ga., Dec. 23, 2024) – Gwinnett County Police detectives charge a suspect with breaking into a Mercedes Benz car dealership and stealing a car.
Motor Vehicle Theft detectives have charged Kaderries Johnson (24, Duluth) with three counts of Burglary in the Second Degree, three counts of Loitering and Prowling, three counts of misdemeanor Theft by Taking, and one count of Motor Vehicle Theft.
On December 3, Johnson walks around the dealership and attempts to get into the showroom. He walks into the service area and takes a bottle of water. An officer finds Johnson walking in the parking lot at 2:40 a.m. and warns him he could be arrested for loitering and prowling, not knowing he had been inside the dealership. Detectives believed he was looking for where the key fobs to the cars were kept.
Around 9:30 p.m. Johnson returns to the dealership. He walks around and pulls on a few doors, one of which opened. He gets confronted by two employees and leaves.
On December 4, Johnson came to the dealership again, walked around and was eventually criminally trespassed from the business by Gwinnett Police officers. On December 5 he returns to the dealership after hours walking around and pulling on doors.
Just before midnight on December 7 Johnson comes back to the dealership and enters the business. He steals three key fobs and a 2025 Mercedes Benz GLE350 that was in the parking lot.
On December 9, Gwinnett Police detectives were informed that Warwick Police had impounded the stolen Mercedes from a traffic stop in their jurisdiction. At the time of the traffic stop, the Mercedes had not been entered in as stolen. They told detectives that Kaderries Johnson had been driving the stolen Mercedes but had been released at the scene.
On December 11, Albany Police had located Johnson loitering around a Chrysler car dealership. Johnson’s IS CURRENTLY IN CUSTODY IN Dougherty County jail.
