UPDATE #1: Detectives have made an arrest in the Brook Lea Cove homicide.

The investigation revealed that Justin Lacy (age 21, Lawrenceville) was inside the home when he shot through an interior bedroom door and struck the victim.  The victim and the suspect are brothers. Following the shooting, family members attempted to render aid, but the victim died of his injuries. 

The victim has been identified as Bryson Moten (age 31, Lawrenceville).

Justin Lacy has been charged with Involuntary Manslaughter, Reckless Conduct, and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of Certain Felonies. He was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail following his arrest.

ORIGINAL: (Lawrenceville, GA., June 18, 2023) – At approximately 2:47 p.m. Gwinnett County Police Officers assigned to the Central Precinct were dispatched to the report of a person shot on Brook Lea Cove in Lawrenceville. Few details are available at this time; however, we can confirm that a male subject is deceased.

GCPD Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigation personnel are working to provide as much information as it becomes available.

This is an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the community.
