SUSPECT ARRESTED IN DOMESTIC RELATED HOMICIDE – 3550 VENTURE PARKWAY
UPDATE #1: (Duluth, Ga., Jan 29, 2025) – Detectives have charged Johnny Mays Blackshear Jr (age 54, Stockbridge) with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes. He is currently being held in the Gwinnett County Jail. The victim in this case is Jordan Calloway (age 26, Duluth). Blackshear is Calloway’s stepfather. Upon identifying Blackshear as the suspect, investigators coordinated with the Walton County Sheriff's Office, which conducted a traffic stop on Blackshear’s vehicle. He was taken into custody without incident. Detectives extend their appreciation to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this case.
ORIGINAL: (Duluth, Ga., Jan 28, 2025) – A domestic-related incident leaves one adult male deceased.
At approximately 7:30 p.m., officers assigned to our Central Precinct responded to the area of Venture Parkway and Market Street in reference to a person-shot call. On scene, officers discovered one adult male suffering from one gunshot wound. Officers attempted to render aid, and the victim was transported by paramedics but died at the hospital.
Currently, officers have secured the scene, and homicide detectives are currently interviewing witnesses and canvassing the area. Crime Scene Investigators are processing the scene, and the Medical Examiner's Office has been requested. The preliminary investigation indicates this was a domestic-related incident between the deceased male and a known individual.
