GWINNETT COUNTY HOMICIDE UNIT MAKES ARREST IN 2022 COLD CASE WITH HELP FROM NEW YORK POLICE
Update #2 (Suwanee, Ga., Mar 25, 2025) – The Gwinnett County Police Department Homicide Unit has arrested a suspect on a 2022 cold case.
In late December 2024, the Gwinnett County Police Homicide Unit was contacted by the New York Police Department regarding a potential connection between a suspect under investigation in their jurisdiction and an unsolved homicide case from September 2022 in ours. The suspect had apparently provided intimate details about a homicide case that were not made public.
Through a collaborative investigation between our Homicide Detectives and the New York Police, authorities identified the suspect as Delano Hill, a 20-year-old from Suwanee.
On March 21, Delano Hill, was arrested at his home and subsequently transported to police headquarters. There, he was interviewed by our Homicide Unit before being booked into the Gwinnett County Jail on charges of aggravated assault, felony murder, and malice murder.
Investigators extend their gratitude to the New York Police Department for their valuable assistance in this case.
Update #1: The Gwinnett Police Homicide Unit is seeking the public’s help in identifying an individual seen on camera walking towards and then away from the homicide scene on Ridge Oak Drive. The suspect is wearing a black hoodie with a reflective strip, black pants, white shoes and carrying a two-strap backpack. Original: (Suwanee, Ga., September 5, 2022) – The Gwinnett County Police Department responded to a medical call on Ridge Oak Drive, Suwanee at approximately 10:00 A.M. for the report of a person down in the front yard of a residence. When officers arrived, they initially located one deceased male in his 40’s suffering from an apparent stab wound.
The Gwinnett County Police Department’s Homicide and Crime Scene Investigations Units are currently on scene conducting the investigation. At this time, the motive for the incident is unknown and no arrests have been made. Gwinnett County Police investigators are asking the public to contact the police department with any information relevant to this investigation.
