FIREFIGHTERS FIGHT RESIDENTIAL FIRE IN SNELLVILLE

(Snellville, Ga., April 24, 2024) – Firefighters responded at 8:32 p.m. to an occupant’s report of a house fire on the 4100 block of Crestside Ridge in Snellville. The 911 caller advised their house was burning. Initially, the 911 caller stated there were people inside but was able to confirm that everyone was out of the home.

Upon arrival, fire crews found a fire at a single-family, two-story residence on a slab. While investigating, firefighters noted heavy fire in the garage. Firefighters deployed three hose lines to fully extinguish the flames with an additional aerial ladder truck. No injuries were found on the scene.

There were three occupants in the home at the time of the fire and a mechanic who was working on a vehicle inside the garage. The mechanic cranked the vehicle and stated fire erupted out of the engine compartment. He then alerted the family inside the home and was able to self-evacuate the home. There were working smoke alarms in the house at the time of the fire. Two adults and two children were displaced due to the fire. The American Red Cross assistance was requested initially by the occupants of the home, but they would rather stay with family and friends.

Fire Investigators were contacted for scene assistance initially, but firefighters were able to determine the fire to be accidental, with the fire originating in the garage.

EQUIPMENT AT THE SCENE INCLUDED: 3- Engines, 2- Ladder Trucks, 1-Squad, 1-Rescue, 2- Command Staff Units, 2- Med Units, 1- Air and Light Unit, 1- Investigator, and 1- PIO.
