Three Men to Serve Life Sentences for Sexual Assault

(Lawrenceville, Ga., 10/23/24) – Three men convicted of raping a woman at gunpoint while forcing her boyfriend to watch were ordered to serve life sentences.

Elijah Nil Curney, 20, was sentenced to life in prison plus 30 years with the possibility of parole. Daquain R. Livingston, 21, was sentenced to life in prison plus 20 years with the possibility of parole. Dashawn Andrettie Harris, 18, was sentenced to life in prison plus 25 years with the possibility of parole. Each must register as a sex offender, and they are prohibited from contacting the victims.

“We are pleased that the Court rendered a very strict sentence for the defendants,” said District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson. “The victim is a heroic survivor of the defendants’ heinous crimes. We pray that this sentencing will aid in her journey toward healing.”

As previously reported, Livingston, Curney, and Harris were each found guilty of rape, aggravated sodomy, and armed robbery for the attack that took place on July 21, 2021, at The Falls apartment complex in Duluth. Curney was also convicted of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

On the night of the incident, the three men encountered the couple in a parking lot of the apartment complex. They held the male victim at gunpoint and forced him to watch as they assaulted the female victim. Then, they robbed the couple.
