Gwinnett has been recognized as the 2022 Georgia Child Fatality Review Committee Metro County of the Year for its data collection efforts to help prevent child deaths in the county.

The award was presented by the Georgia Child Fatality Review Panel with the Georgia Bureau of Investigations. The award reflects the work done by the Gwinnett County Child Fatality Review Committee, which is led by the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office and Victim Witness Program.

Every county in Georgia has its own Child Fatality Review Committee that meets within 30 days of a child’s death to gather and submit its findings.

The Gwinnett County Child Fatality Review Committee was honored for submitting quality, comprehensive reports while collaborating with other agencies that review each child-related death from ages 0 to 17. These reports prompt discussions that lead to preventative strategies to reduce child deaths.
