Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson presented her proposed budget on Tuesday to guide County government spending for the 2025 fiscal year.

The proposed budget for 2025 totals $2.65 billion. It consists of a $2.1 billion operating budget and a $542 million capital improvements budget, which includes funds from the County’s Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax program.

Chairwoman Hendrickson said the proposed budget addresses challenges facing the County, including health care, affordable housing, and sustainability. 

“Our budget focuses on many different areas to ensure we continue to offer our residents top-tier services,” said Hendrickson. “With this budget, we are taking steps to address priorities such as public safety, infrastructure, and economic opportunities.”

Initiatives included in the proposed budget will advance key public safety projects such as enhancing E911 communications and introducing community service aides to support the Police department.

Under the proposed budget, the County will enhance transportation efficiency, improve and expand water and sewer services, and implementing of the County’s Facility Asset Management Program as part of infrastructure efforts.

As Gwinnett continues to grow, economic opportunities continue to be a priority. The budget also includes the 2045 Unified Plan with a focus on redevelopment and small area plan studies, resident workforce development, and the reinforcement of the County’s Equity Program.

Department directors and elected officials presented business plans for 2025 to the budget review committee earlier this year as part of the budget development process. Those presentations are available for viewing online at TVGwinnett.com. Three Gwinnett residents recruited by Chairwoman Hendrickson reviewed the departmental requests and made recommendations for the budget proposal.

The proposed 2025 budget resolution is available online and as a hard copy in the Financial Services office at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville during business hours, Monday through Friday from 8:00am until 5:00pm.

Commissioners will hold a public hearing on December 3 at 6:30pm in the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center Auditorium.. Residents can also offer input on the County’s website through December 31. Commissioners will consider the 2025 budget at their first meeting of the new year on January 7.
