Frequently Asked Questions
Who is eligible to be seen at the wellness center?
- Active, full-time employees and pre-Medicare retirees who are enrolled in one of the County’s medical plans and their spouses and dependents 18 years of age or older who are enrolled in one of the County's medical plans.
Am I able to see a health care provider from my insurance provider at the wellness center?
- In-network healthcare providers for both insurance plans are available to see patients at the Center.
Can I go to the wellness center for an emergency?
- The wellness center offers appointments for non-emergency treatment. Dial 911 or visit a nearby emergency room if you experience an emergency.
Are appointments necessary?
- For the best service to our patients, appointments are strongly recommended. An appointment can be made by calling 678.377.4080 and following the prompts to choose the option for your healthcare provider.
- Walk-ins may be seen if there is an available appointment. Every attempt will be made to see a walk-in patient, but those with scheduled appointments will be seen first. A walk-in will be offered at the next available appointment, but keep in mind there may not be same day availability.
What time is the last patient seen at the wellness center?
- The last patient will be seen 15 minutes prior to closing time. Anyone who arrives within 15 minutes of closing time will be offered the next available appointment.
What capacity can I use the wellness center if I am a Medicare-eligible retiree?
- Medicare-eligible retirees are not eligible to see a provider for care but are eligible for the other services. Medicare-eligible retirees can receive flu shots and attend Wellness activities at the wellness center.
What is the difference between preventive and acute/routine care?
- Preventive care typically takes place when you’re feeling well. It usually involves quarterly, annual, or age specific exams and testing used for the prevention of illness.
- Typically, acute/routine care typically is given when a patient is experiencing symptoms related to an episodic illness.
Is the wellness center meant to replace our primary care physician or the relationship with our primary care physician?
- No. The healthcare providers at the wellness center are not intended to replace your primary care physician. In fact, they will encourage patients to identify a primary care physician, if they do not have one already, and maintain a relationship with them. The providers at the wellness center will work with your primary care physician to improve your overall health.
Is there a separate fee if labs are needed during an appointment?
- No. Labs taken during an appointment, such as during your annual physical, are included in the respective fee based on your medical plan.
Is there a fee if I schedule an appointment to have labs performed only?
- It depends on the reason for the labs. If labs are preventive in nature, such as quarterly blood draws related to disease management, then labs are considered preventive and there is no charge. If a cancer screening is requested because of a history of cancer in one's family, those labs may incur the respective fee per your healthcare plan.
Does the County have access to my medical information?
- No. The administrator uses separate systems and servers. At no time will the County have access to individual patient information.
Will I have access to services while the wellness center is closed?
- No. Services won’t be available for access during the shutdown period. If you are an Aetna member and need care during this period, contact your insurance carrier to help you find an in-network provider. Employees covered by Kaiser may continue to schedule appointments at a Kaiser facility or virtually during the wellness center’s temporary closure.
