Gwinnett County Police Citizens Advisory Board
The Gwinnett County Police Department exists to serve the community of Gwinnett. On January 19, 2021 the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners adopted a Resolution (effective February 1, 2021) to establish the Gwinnett County Police Citizens Advisory Board in order to ensure a vibrantly connected community where all stakeholders feel fully informed, engaged, and heard. The mission of the Gwinnett County Police Citizens Advisory Board is to develop and maintain a partnership with the Police Department for the purpose of engaging in a collaborative problem-solving process that supports both the community and the Police Department’s desire to enhance public safety
The Police Citizens Advisory Board:
- Exists to promote an atmosphere of earned trust between the community and the Police Department to enhance accountability, increase transparency, and create sustainable partnerships throughout the community
- Provides an opportunity to engage and empower residents to be more informed and involved in providing recommendations related to law enforcement policies, procedures, practices, and training as well as establishing goals that can be accomplished through positive and open communication

The Gwinnett County Police Citizens Advisory Board shall be composed of eleven (11) residents of Gwinnett County, to be appointed as follows:
- One member appointed by the Commission Chairwoman
- One member appointed by Commission District 1
- One member appointed by Commission District 2
- One member appointed by Commission District 3
- One member appointed by Commission District 4
- One member of the Gwinnett 101 Citizens Academy Alumnae
- One member of the Gwinnett County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors
- One member of the Gwinnett County Bar Association Criminal Defense Section
- One member of the Gwinnett Technical College Student Government Association
- One member appointed by the Gwinnett cities that are included within the Gwinnett Police Services District
- One member appointed by View Point Health
The Chief of Police or his designee shall serve as an ex-officio member of the Gwinnett County Police Citizens Advisory Board
The Gwinnett County Police Citizens Advisory Board shall:
- Provide input regarding policing policies, practices, and training programs
- Maintain a partnership between the community and law enforcement
- Hold public meetings to discuss issues surrounding police matters
- Recommend community outreach initiatives
- Adopt bylaws and rules as necessary to govern its proceedings
- Perform other duties as prescribed by the Board of Commissioners
