Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful grew out of concerns about illegal dumping and littering identified by the Lawrenceville Junior Women’s Club in 1979. It has worked since then in partnership with more than 100,000 volunteers and 100 community partners each year to protect health, landscape, habitats, streams, and water quality. It is an affiliate of the national nonprofit organization, Keep America Beautiful.

County officials from various departments work closely with Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful to provide environmental stewardship and education programs like Adopt-A-Road, Adopt-A-Stream, litter and graffiti prevention, waste reduction and recycling awareness, and community events.

Its goals are to build and sustain broad- based community alliances, leverage resources to increase revenues and control costs, engage citizens by turning education and knowledge into action and visible results, improve Gwinnett’s image and brand, and encourage positive behaviors and daily actions by providing fact and science-based knowledge to the entire community.
