All members of the community should have access to fun, healthy, positive recreation! Therapeutic Recreation offers people who have physical, intellectual, and/or behavioral challenges the opportunity to participate in recreational activities, competitive sporting events, specialized classes, creative programs, and special events! We strive to help those with special needs increase self-esteem, promote community involvement, and encourage independence. That's what Therapeutic Recreation is all about! Inclusive Programs

Inclusive Programs provide reasonable accommodations of assistance for individuals with special needs to confidently participate in a program. Adaptive activity equipment, increased staff/participant ratios, or activity modification are just some of the ways everyone can enjoy successful participation! Participants are asked to email CSTR@GwinnettCounty.com regarding any accommodations necessary for participation at least two weeks before the program start date. |
Specialized Programs
Specialized Programs are open to everyone but are designed to meet the unique needs of individuals with physical, mental, and/or emotional disabilities. Programs encourage self-confidence and include everything from special events to art therapy, and much more! |

Playgrounds
Many playgrounds have rubber surfacing, high back swing seats, ramps, rockers, and play panels with musical instruments, Braille, and other sensory features to explore.

Bay Creek Park, Loganville
Duncan Creek Park, Dacula
George Pierce Park, Suwanee
Peachtree Ridge Park, Suwanee
Sport Associations
Therapeutic Sports are offered at various Gwinnett County Park and Recreation facilities. We are proud to partner with local volunteer Gwinnett County Athletic Associations, the Grayson Athletic Association, the Peachtree Ridge Youth Athletic Association, and the Gwinnett Masters Special Teams |
