Step back in time at the Lawrenceville Female Seminary, which houses the Gwinnett History Museum on the second floor. Built in the 1830s as a finishing school for young women, the structure was destroyed by fire, reconstructed in 1855, and later served as a Masonic lodge, a community civic center, and even a local radio station! Museum exhibits spotlight early county history with many artifacts unearthed during restoration work in the 1970s. A showcase of Federal and Greek Revival-style architecture, this one-of-a-kind property is also available for rentals, with special features including a preserved classroom with the original slate chalkboard along one wall, and a brick courtyard with fountain on the enchanting grounds.
