Q: How do I file a complaint or commendations?
A: Commendations or Complaints are accepted from any source, whether in person, by mail or by telephone using the following forms:
- Citizen Commendation Form – Police Department Employee
- Citizen Complaint Form – Police Department Employee
NOTE: These forms are only for commendations or complaints about Police Department employees
Q: Are anonymous complaints accepted?
A: Complaints are accepted by anonymous sources as long as the complaint contains sufficient factual information to warrant investigation.
Q: What happens after I file a complaint?
A: The investigation could be handled by the officer/employee’s immediate supervisor or by the Internal Affairs Unit. The investigation normally takes 30 to 60 days to complete. At the conclusion of the investigation, the complainant will be notified in writing of the disposition of the case.
Commendations
The Gwinnett County Police Department welcomes citizens' recognition of police employees performing in a quality manner. Citizen commendations will be forwarded to the commended employees/officers and their immediate supervisors.

The Gwinnett County Police Department is committed to maintaining professionalism and integrity. It is our goal to maintain the public trust and confidence at all times. The department takes allegations of employee misconduct very seriously.
How to file the Commendation/Complaint
The citizen commendation form or complaint form can be taken to any Gwinnett County Police Precinct or it can be mailed to the address below.
