The
Air Quality Index (AQI) was developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) to provide easy to understand information about daily levels
of air pollution. The Georgia Environmental Protection Division uses
the AQI to report daily air quality levels in metro Atlanta. When the
following day's AQI is projected to rise over 100, a Smog Alert is issued
for that day.
