Partners & Rescue Groups
Collaborations with rescue groups and other partners are valuable in ensuring success with ongoing animal welfare efforts. Licensed rescues and partners who are interested in working with Animal Welfare and Enforcement should email AnimalWelfare@GwinnettCounty.com or call 770.339.3200 to schedule an appointment with staff.
We proudly partner with many veterinarian practices and clinics throughout Gwinnett to offer limited discounts for newly adopted pets. New pet parents can pick up a list of participating partners at the front counter.
Veterinary partners
Animal Welfare and Enforcement maintains an annual contract with Planned PEThood of Georgia to provide all kennel veterinary services for the animals in our care. This care includes intake exams and evaluations, heartworm testing and treatment for canines, combo testing and treatment for felines (upon adoption or rescue commitment), follow-up care as needed, and spay/neuter services for all animals before adoption or rescue.
Our additional partnerships with the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association, in conjunction with the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine and other agencies, not only provide needed on-site medical attention but also offer invaluable hands-on training for students in these programs. A partnership with the Veterinary Assistant Degree Program at Gwinnett Technical College further enhances the educational experience by providing on-site training for their students.
Low cost spay/neuter and vaccine programs
Spaying or neutering animals helps reduce pet overpopulation and helps pets stay healthier. Thousands of unwanted animals in Gwinnett that are not spayed or neutered continue to reproduce, contributing to pet overpopulation. Be a responsible pet owner; have your pet spayed or neutered and maintain vaccinations each year. Please ask our staff if any assistance programs are currently available.
We partner with several organizations to participate in and reach out to the community at events, which offer low-cost vaccination clinics. Call 770.339.3200 for information on upcoming clinics.
