UPDATE #1: (Norcross, Ga., August 16, 2024) – On August 15, Ruben Santos Auxume-Guerra (age 42, Doraville) was arrested by the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Task Force at a home in Dekalb County. Ruben was interviewed by Gwinnett County Police detectives before being transported to the Gwinnett County Jail without incident. Ruben is charged with malice murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes. The motive appears to be related to a domestic issue between the two parties. The victim in this case has been identified as Anthony Hernandez (age 28, Doraville).

ORIGINAL: (Norcross, Ga., August 14, 2024) – The Gwinnett County Police Department is actively investigating a shooting on the 6200 block of Josephine Road after an argument resulted in one man being shot to death.

Officers were called to the location at approximately 3:30 p.m. after they received a 911 call about a shooting at the residence.  When officers arrived, they located the deceased victim with at least one gunshot wound.  Homicide investigators responded to the scene and have begun interviewing witnesses. 

The investigation is still in the preliminary stages and the motive for the shooting is currently unknown.  The name of the victim is being withheld until his next of kin is notified.  The Gwinnett County Crime Scene Unit will process the scene for evidence and more information will be made available at a later time.
