SUSPECT UNDER ARREST FOR HOMICIDE ON KENTSHIRE PLACE IN LAWRENCEVILLE

UPDATE #1: (Lawrenceville, Ga., Sept. 20, 2023) – The lead detective assigned to this case has charged Righteous Love Williams (age 21, Jonesboro) with Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of Certain Felonies. Williams was arrested on Tuesday, September 19, with the assistance of the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office and the Clayton County Police Department SWAT Team at a location in Clayton County and later booked into the Gwinnett County Jail.

The motive for the crime is still under investigation.

 

ORIGINAL: (Lawrenceville, Ga., Sept. 18, 2023) – The Gwinnett County Police Department is investigating an overnight shooting that left one man deceased.

On Sunday, September 17, at around 8:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to a “person shot” call at Northside Gwinnett Hospital in the city of Lawrenceville. When officers arrived at the hospital, they learned that a shooting victim had been dropped off at the hospital by three unknown individuals. The victim later died because of his injuries. At the time of the initial call, the crime scene was unknown.

Throughout the course of the investigation, detectives assigned to the Homicide and Assault Unit learned that the shooting took place on Kentshire Place in unincorporated Lawrenceville. The three individuals who dropped the victim off at the hospital were located. The motive for this shooting remains under investigation. At this time, the three individuals are believed to be witnesses and not suspects.

The victim has been identified as Michael Maddox (age 19, Lawrenceville). Next-of-kin notification has been made to his family.
