(Buford, Ga., Dec 20, 2024) – The Gwinnett County Police Department has arrested a suspect on multiple charges of identity fraud and forgery related to property in Arizona.

On December 11, officers assigned to our North Precinct Community Response Team were contacted by the Lake Havasu City Police Department in Arizona. Investigators from Lake Havasu City reported that a victim’s identity had been stolen, and a property belonging to the victim in Arizona was being sold by an unknown suspect impersonating the victim. Officers were able to make contact with the suspect here in Gwinnett County and arrange a location to meet and sign the remaining closing documents to finalize the sale of the property.

On December 17, Armond Long (age 55, Lilburn) walked into the meeting location and met with an undercover officer. Long identified himself as the victim from Arizona and attempted to sign the closing documents. Long was arrested without incident and transported to the Gwinnett County Jail. He is charged with two counts of identity theft and first-degree forgery. The case remains active, and additional charges might be forthcoming. Investigators want to remind the public to regularly monitor their assets and credit reports and promptly report any suspicious activity to the police.
