THE DAYPRING TRACE DOUBLE SHOOTING IS NOW A HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION

UPDATE #2: (Lawrenceville, Ga., Nov. 13, 2023) – What started out as a double shooting is now being investigated as a homicide. Daqwayvious Kleckley (age 20) has died as a result of his injuries. His mother, Deyawnday Kleckley (age 44), is still being treated for her injuries at a local hospital.

Terrance Washington is now facing additional charges, including Felony Murder and Malice Murder.

 

UPDATE #1: (Lawrenceville, Ga., Nov. 8, 2023) – The lead detective assigned to this case has charged Terrance Alonzo Washington (age 43) with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Theft by Taking. Washington was taken into custody in Warner Robbins several hours after last night’s shooting. He is currently incarcerated in their detention center.

Both the victims remain in critical condition and are being treated at local hospitals. The female victim (age 44) is the mother of the male victim (age 20). 

The motivation behind this shooting appears to be domestic-related. Washington had previously been in a relationship with the female victim.

 

ORIGINAL: (Lawrenceville, Ga., Nov. 8, 2023) – Detectives are investigating a double shooting in Lawrenceville that left a man and woman with life-threatening injuries.

Shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7, officers assigned to the Bay Creek Precinct were dispatched to a domestic dispute at a home on Dayspring Trace in unincorporated Lawrenceville. As officers arrived, they parked their patrol cars a few houses away. As they were approaching on foot, they heard gunshots coming from the driveway of the home.

A man was seen fleeing the area in a vehicle while two shooting victims lay in the driveway. Officers immediately began to render aid and await response from the Gwinnett County Fire Department. The victims were transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Detectives are still trying to make a positive identification of the shooter, but they believe he was known to the victims.
