SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR MULTIPLE FELONIES AFTER ATTACKING STORE EMPLOYEE

(Norcross, Ga., Dec 18, 2024) – The Gwinnett County Police arrested a suspect after attacking a store employee.

On December 14, officers assigned to our West precinct responded to an assault call at 6288 Dawson Blvd Rooms To Go. A store employee called 911 and stated a black female had begun throwing items inside the store and attacking him with a lanyard, causing injuries to the victim's face. The victim was able to provide officers with the tag number of the suspect vehicle. Officers were able to utilize our Flock cameras in the area and locate the suspect vehicle inside the Horizon Inn and Suites parking lot on 6187 Dawson Blvd. The vehicle fled at the sight of officers and collided with an officer's vehicle. While officers attempted to give the driver commands, the vehicle accelerated, almost striking an officer. The suspect vehicle then exited the parking lot and attempted to flee down Dawson Blvd when one of the passengers inside the vehicle placed the vehicle in park, causing the vehicle to come to a stop. Two passengers exited the vehicle and cooperated with police commands. The driver continued to ignore commands from officers before finally being taken into custody without incident.

In speaking to all parties involved, the driver recently picked up the two passengers in the vehicle, and they had no connection to any criminal activity. The driver was identified as Deanna Sinai Mills (age 32, Atlanta). Mills was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail and is charged with two counts of kidnapping, two counts of aggravated assault, battery, criminal damage to property in the second degree, willful obstruction, interference with government property, and disorderly conduct. Mills also had an active arrest warrant from an outside jurisdiction.
