UPDATE: Pedestrian Killed by Hit and Run - Another Suspect Arrested

Update #2, 08/17/2016: The GCPD Accident Investigation Unit received information last week that a second vehicle was involved in the pedestrian fatality on South Norcross Tucker Road on August 7.  

The information received revealed that Richard Grant was test driving a GMC truck that ran over the pedestrian after she had been struck by the first vehicle.  The truck was recovered from the owner and evidence was located under the vehicle that confirmed the events. 

Richard Grant was arrested and charged with Homicide by Vehicle 1st Degree, Hit and Run (Felony), Suspended Driver’s License, and an outstanding warrant (not related to this incident).  He was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail on Friday, August 12.  (Cpl. Michele Pihera

The deceased pedestrian has been identified as Floridalma Godinez-Chavez (age 47, Norcross). 

Update #1, 08/09/2016: Police have arrested 44 year old Carlos Hernandez-Tecata of Lilburn for the fatal accident that killed a pedestrian Sunday night. He was arrested for Driving without a license, Felony Hit and Run, and Felony Vehicular Homicide. We are withholding the name of the decedent pending next of kin notification. (Cpl. Deon Washington)

Original, 08/07/2016, 11:33pm: (Norcross, Georgia)  Gwinnett County Police are investigating a fatal accident involving a pedestrian who was struck in the 6100 block of South Norcross Tucker Road in Norcross (unincorporated Gwinnett County).  Police responded to the scene at approximately 2130 hours.  When they arrived, they located the female victim lying in the roadway.  According to the preliminary investigation, the female was trying to cross the roadway and was struck by a dark colored pickup truck.  After the truck hit the female it drove off and has not been located.

The identity of the female is being withheld until the next of kin can be notified. (Cpl. Collin Flynn)
