Homicide Investigation
(Tuesday, November 11, 2014 @ approximately 11:23 pm) The Gwinnett County Police Department Homicide Unit is currently investigating the death of a 15 month old infant girl that took place at Extended Stay located at 7065 Jimmy Carter Blvd. #310. This is located within the city limits of Peachtree Corners within Gwinnett County.
On November 11, 2014 at approximately 11:23pm, Gwinnett County police officers were dispatched to Northside Hospital in Sandy Springs at the request of Sandy Springs Police Department regarding the suspicious death of a 15 month old infant girl. The infant, Alcenti Mcintosh, was brought to the hospital by her father, 44 year old Calvin Mcintosh, and was determined to be dead on arrival. Due to the physical appearance of Alcenti, it was quickly determined by medical personnel that this was most likely a case of neglect and abuse.
Officers and investigators responded to the family’s address located at the Extended Stay on Jimmy Carter Blvd. There they met with a 23 year old female identified as Najlaa Mcintosh and three other children, ages 5, 3 and 3. Also in the room was a 21 year old female, identified as Iasia Sweeting. Iasia was lying on the floor wrapped in blankets and was in desperate need of medical attention and weighed only 59 pounds. The three children were also severely malnourished and were in need of medical attention. Investigators also discovered during the execution of a search warrant, copious amounts of literature and notes in reference to ritualistic behavior and the Nuwaubian Nation of Moors, an Islam based cult which is known for being a sovereign group.
Investigators later learned that Calvin Mcintosh fathered two children belonging to his biological daughter, Najlaa and two children of Iasia, one of them being the deceased. It was also learned that Calvin ordered Najllaa to deprive the children and Iasia of food if they are disobedient. The Gwinnett County Medical Examiner ruled starvation as the cause of death for Alcenti. It’s also believed that Iasia was deprived of food for the past few months at the direction of Calvin for being disobedient.
The three surviving children were deprived and are in DFACS custody. Meanwhile, Iasia Sweeting remains in the hospital in serious condition undergoing medical treatment.
Investigators arrested and charged Calvin Mcintosh and Najlaa Mcintosh with the following charges;
1. Felony Murder- 1 count each
2. Malice Murder- 1 count each
3. Cruelty to Children 1st degree- 4 counts each
4. Cruelty to Children 2nd degree- 1 count each
5. Cruelty to a Physically Disabled Adult- 1 count each
In addition to the listed charges, Calvin Mcintosh was also charged with the following offenses against his biological daughter, Najlaa Mcintosh;
1. Rape- 1 count
2. Incest- 1 count
3. Aggravated Sodomy- 1 count
Both are being held in the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.
