Aggravated Assault/Shooting
(July 21, 2010 @ approximately 4:37 pm) Gwinnett County Police officers responded to Herrington Woods Apartments located at 2800 Herrington Rd. in reference to a person shot. The shooting took place at the Chevron Gas Station at the corner of Old Norcross Rd. and Herrington Rd. Both of these locations are in an unincorporated area of Lawrenceville in Gwinnett County.
The investigation so far has revealed that the victim of the shooting was a passenger in a vehicle. The victim and driver of this vehicle were in the vehicle sitting in the parking lot when two black males approached the passenger side of the vehicle. One of the black males brandished a gun and shot the victim in the chest as he sat in the car. Once the shooting occurred, the driver fled the area with the passenger and drove to the leasing office at Herrington Woods Apartments. Upon arrival he called 911 from a cell phone to report the shooting. The suspects are alleged to have left the scene in a vehicle, possibly two. Investigators with the Gwinnett County Police Homicide/Assault Unit responded to the scene to interview witnesses and the driver of the vehicle who left with the victim. The description of the suspects and their vehicle(s) is unclear at this time as well as the motive for the shooting. Investigators are diligently working on leads and establishing description of the suspects and their vehicle(s). The Gwinnett County Police Crime Scene Unit also responded to the scene for collection and documentation of evidence.
The victim and driver are black males in their 20's. The victim was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center in serious condition for treatment for a gunshot wound to the chest.

The victim of the shooting, 20 year old Deandre Perkins of Loganville died at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville as a result of the injuries he sustained in the shooting.
Gwinnett County Police Homicide Unit is actively following up on very strong leads at this time. Additional details in reference to this incident will not be released at this time as it may compromise the investigation.

Gwinnett County Police Homicide Unit worked countless hours following up on leads in reference to this homicide. Based on their investigation, investigators were able to establish probable cause to obtain arrests warrants for the following people;
- 18 year old black male Fuad Abdulaziz Hohamud of Lawrenceville, Georgia. He has active arrest warrants for Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime against a Person.
- 20 year old black male Airis Jamar Evans-Ingram of Lawrenceville, Georgia. He was an active arrest warrant for Felony Murder.
The motive behind this murder is unclear and still under investigation.
The driver of the vehicle the victim was in has been identified as 20 year old Akeem Masha of Grayson, Georgia.

The primary suspect of this homicide Fuad Abdulaziz Mohamud has been apprehended in Metro-Davidson County (Nashville area) Tennessee on August 11, 2010 by Deputy Dominick Crea of the Metro Atlanta Fugitive Task Force. Authorities are still searching for the 2nd suspect, Airis Jamar Evans-Ingram. His whereabouts are unknown at this time.
