GWINNETT FIRE/MEDIA E-NEWS RELEASE: FD STORM RESPONSE ACTIVITY TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING

The following is a breakdown of the fire response activity from Tuesday when the storm moved in through Thursday morning.Public safety officials continuously monitored call volume and weather and road conditions throughout the storm.Fire personnel assisted with staffing the County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and the Fire Operations Command Center “War Room” at Fire Headquarters.Additional Engines and Ambulances were placed in service to handle increased calls for service.Though units were kept busy, there were no reports of serious injury or major structural damage.Situations where fire units became stuck by the ice and snow were easily handled and units returned to service.We are fortunate to have the support of county leaders and elected officials who make public safety a top priority.Gwinnett citizens are to be commended for heeding the advice of public safety officials and staying off the roads and preparing for the winter storm.

Smoke Odor 200 block of Greenwood Drive, NW in Lilburn Crews investigated an occupant report of a burning plastic odor from under her house.There was no sign of smoke or fire on arrival.Firefighters were unable to locate the source.
Power Lines Down 4000 block of Anderson-Livsey Lane, SW in Snellville Crews found live wires down in the area.The power company was notified.
House Fire 3000 block of Spring Drive, NW in Doraville Crews found a tree down across the service line to the house.There was no sign of smoke or fire from the house.
Vehicle Fire 600 block of Sparrows Lane, NW in Norcross Crews found a small active fire in the engine compartment.
Apartment Fire 3200 block of Sunrise Village Lane, NW in Norcross Crews found a small burn in the carpet in front of the fireplace.
House Fire 4000 block of Howell Park Road, NW in Duluth Crews found a fire that was out on arrival from a faulty heating unit.
Tree on a House 1300 block of Grace Hadaway Lane, NE in Norcross Crews found a tree that fell on a house.The tree penetrated the living space in one area.There were no injuries reported.
Tree on a House 2000 block of Ravinia Court, NW in Lawrenceville Crews found a tree down on the roof of a house. There were no injuries reported.
House Fire 5000 block of Haley Court, SW in Lilburn Crews found a fire in the attic.The fire was quickly extinguished and no injuries were reported.
House Fire 5100 block of Cold Springs Drive, NW in Lilburn Crews found a fire in a gas heater that was out on arrival.
Power Lines Down 1500 block of Hoy Taylor Drive in Norcross Crews found a tree down on the power lines.The power company was notified.
House Fire 2900 block of Meadow Point Drive in Snellville Crews nothing showing on arrival.The occupant advised that he saw a small  in the AC junction box in the attic.
Tree on a House 4 Poplar Lane in Buford Crews found a tree down on a house.The utilities were not affected and the resident chose to remain in the home.
Explosion Complaint 5200 block of Arbor View Lane in Buford Crews found a blown transformer in the area on arrival.The power company was notified.
Business Fire Five Forks Trickum Road in Lawrenceville Crews responded to a report of smoke coming from a church building.There was no sign of smoke or fire on arrival.This was a good intent call.
Residential Fire 2700 block of Meadow Trace Drive in Grayson Crews found a small grease fire in the oven.The fire was quickly extinguished and the scene was turned over to the homeowner.
House Fire 4800 block of Medlock Bridge Road, in Norcross Crews found a smoldering fire in the crawl space. The fire may have been related to a fireplace fire.
Tree on a House 700 block of Inland Way, NW in Lilburn Crews found a tree down between two houses.No damage to either structure.
Tree on Power Line 6700 block of Windfaire Drive, SW in Norcross Crews found a tree down that pulled the service line away from the house.The tree caused siding damage to the home.
Transformer Fire 3300 block of Venture Parkway in Duluth Crews found a blown transformer that was smoldering across from the Windgate Hotel.The power company was notified.
Transformer Fire Sugarloaf Parkway near Woodhaven Drive in Lawrenceville Crews found a blown transformer that was smoldering. The power company was notified.
Power Line Down 1700 block of Oak Ridge Way, NW in Lawrenceville Crews found a tree limb that was down on a power line with the line arcing.The power company was notified.
House Fire 4600 block of Candlewyck Way, NE in Buford Crews found a small kitchen fire that was already out on arrival.Firefighters checked for hot spots and cleared the smoke. Engine-18 and Truck-14 were stranded in the snow and ice as they returned from the scene.The engine slid off the road and was stuck in the mud.The truck was stranded by icy road conditions. A wrecker was called to assist both apparatus.
Woods Fire 300 block of Satellite Boulevard, NW in Suwanee Crews responded to a report of a possible woods fire/smoke in the area.The source was found to be steam from a nearby building.
