Get ready to light up the night at the annual Lighting of the Tree event! Since 1987, Gwinnett County has kicked off the holiday season on Thanksgiving night, bringing the community together for a night of joy, entertainment, and dazzling lights.

The 40-foot Norway Spruce, from the mountains of North Carolina, has already arrived at the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse, marking the beginning of our festive preparations. After its installation, County staff began decorating the Great Tree, topping it all off with a brightly lit star.

Lighting of the Tree is more than just an event — it's a cherished tradition that fosters a sense of unity, holiday spirit, and lasting memories with loved ones.

Bring the whole family for live entertainment, kids’ activities, food vendors, photos with Santa, and more! The festivities will take place on the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse lawn, located at 185 West Crogan Street in Lawrenceville on Thursday, November 28 from 5:30pm to 8:00pm. As the clock strikes 6:00pm, watch in awe as Santa lights our magnificent Great Tree, illuminating the square — a sight that promises to warm hearts and spread cheer.

Following the annual Lighting of the Tree event, visitors can stop by the beautifully decorated Gwinnett Historic Courthouse for self-guided tours throughout the holiday season. Don’t miss out on the warmth, joy, and festive spirit at the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony!
