Hiring Process
-
All applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States to be considered. Some positions have a requirement that the applicant be a US citizen. This information can be found on the individual job posting. All new hires are required to complete federal I-9 employment verification forms upon hire.
-
Applications are screened typically within seven working days after submission to determine eligibility. Applications that do not meet the minimum qualifications of the position will be deemed ineligible.
-
Applications that meet the minimum qualifications are forwarded to the hiring department after a position closes. If the position states "Continuous" or "Open Until Filled," applications are sent generally within seven days of the date you applied.
-
The hiring department reviews all eligible applications and determines which will be interviewed. Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee an interview.
-
The hiring department contacts Human Resources directly to notify them of the candidate(s) whom they wish to extend a Conditional Job Offer.
-
A Conditional Job Offer entails a thorough background check and, if required, a physical, drug screening, and/or other requirements. If the selected candidate successfully meets all hiring guidelines a Final Job Offer is extended.
-
The length of time to fill a position will vary. Public Safety positions can take approximately 3 to 5 months due to the extensive background investigation process.
-
Please note: Positions listed as "Continuous" or "Open Until Filled" are available for recruitment until an applicant has been selected or the hiring department closes the position. Merit positions can close and/or be filled any time after seven calendar days from the posting date.
Due to the high volume of applicants, Gwinnett Human Resources will only contact candidates selected to move forward in the hiring process. You may contact the Human Resources Department to follow up on the status of your application.
NOTE: Emailed resumes cannot be accepted in lieu of an online application.
