Gwinnett now accepting online payments for utility permitting
(LAWRENCEVILLE, GA, Oct. 31, 2020) - The Gwinnett Department of Transportation now has the ability to accept online payments for utility permitting in the County’s right of way.
As of November, utility permitting customers can pay online by credit card or e-checks. These options will be available for Telecommunication Permits and Small Cell Tower Permits only. All other permit applications (Cable TV, Electrical and Gas) will remain the same.
In 2017, the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners amended the County Code of Ordinances to require all utilities desiring to locate their facilities in Gwinnett County rights of way to obtain a permit from the Gwinnett DOT.
The issuance of permits allows the Department to manage utility installations in an efficient and orderly manner and to protect assets in the public’s interest. The permitting process enables the County to plan for and coordinate utility installations with other activities within the right of way.
The new online process is to make filing and processing a utility permit application more efficient. Clients experiencing a problem while using the new process are asked to contact the DOT’s Utility Permitting staff at 770-822-7440 or email DOTRowPermits@gwinnettcounty.com. Utility ROW Permits

View the Utility Permit Request Form can be found through the Gwinnett County ZIP Portal. The County will use the form to acquire the minimum information necessary for a permit application.
