Frequently Asked Questions
How is microtransit different from regular Ride Gwinnett local bus service?
Microtransit serves designated zones within Gwinnett County with on-demand, flexible shared rides. This service is available to anyone wanting to take a local trip to get to work, go shopping, go to an appointment, connect to other transit options, and more. On-demand trips mean you can access the service when you need it instead of having to plan your trip around a bus route schedule.
Microtransit also uses a shuttle or van that makes short trips within the service area. Trips can be booked in real time using the Ride Gwinnett app or by calling dispatch at 770.246.4770 and selecting option 3. Customers wanting to complete any trip outside the zone must plan a separate bus trip using our local fixed route options.
What are the hours of operation for Ride Gwinnett microtransit?
Microtransit operates Monday through Saturday from 6:00am to 8:00pm. Please note that holidays may affect Ride Gwinnett service hours. Any adjustments to our hours of operation will be posted on the Ride Gwinnett website, our X account, and the Ride Gwinnett app.
Microtransit trips must finish by 8:00pm. Trips that would end after 8:00pm cannot be booked.
How do I know when a driver will pick me up?
Ride bookings specify a 10-minute time window for pick up. We advise that you are ready to board or take your trip at the beginning of your pick-up time window. You will receive an updated estimated time of arrival as your ride approaches and a notification when your ride has reached the pick-up location.
Updates are sent via SMS and the Ride Gwinnett app. You also have the option to use the app to track your vehicle’s location in real time as it comes to pick you up.
How long will the driver wait for me?
As a courtesy to your co-riders, the driver may only wait up to two minutes for you to reach the pick-up location. To stay on schedule, the vehicle will depart if you do not show up within the two-minute waiting period.
