Thank you for your interest in employment opportunities with Gwinnett County Government. The following are general guidelines regarding the employment process:
- Applications are screened typically within seven working days after submission to determine eligibility. Applications that do not meet the specific requirements of the position will be deemed ineligible
- Applications that meet the minimum qualifications are forwarded to the hiring department normally within two weeks after a position closes. If the position states "Continuous" or "Open Until Filled", applications are sent generally within two weeks of date of application
- Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States. Some positions have a requirement that an applicant must be a US citizen. This information can be found on the individual job posting. All new hires are required to complete federal I-9 employment verification forms upon hire. Gwinnett County also participates in the federal E-verify program to confirm the employment authorization of all new hires. Gwinnett County's E-verify program ID# is 43321 with a date of authorization as of July 2007
- The hiring department reviews all eligible applications and determines which applicants to interview. Only applicants selected for an interview will be contacted. Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee an interview
- Human Resources is contacted by the hiring department of their selection for the position
- The selected candidate will be given a "Conditional Job Offer (CJO)" notification by Human Resources. The CJO entails a thorough background check and, if required, a physical and/or drug screening
- If the selected candidate fulfills the hiring guidelines, a "Final Job Offer" will be extended
- The length of time to fill a position will vary by the position. Generally, it will take 4 – 6 weeks after the closing date. Public Safety positions can take approximately 3 – 5 months due to the extensive background investigation process
- Positions listed as "Continuous" or "Open Until Filled" are available for recruitment until an applicant has been selected or the hiring department closes the position. Positions can close and/or be filled anytime after seven calendar days from the posting date
