Sex Offender Registry
The Sex Offender Registry allows you to search convicted offenders in Gwinnett County. It enables Gwinnett County citizens to stay informed of who is living and working in your neighborhood. The Sex Offender Registry includes the offender's address and/or deportation status, physical appearance, and criminal history.

Temporary Protective Orders (TPO)
A Temporary Protective Order (TPO) is a legal document issued by the court to help protect an individual from someone who is abusing or harassing them. Legal requirements for applying for a TPO:
- 18 years or older
- Gwinnett County resident; or the incident occurred in Gwinnett County
- Plaintiff must have an accurate address for the defendant
- Plaintiff and defendant must have a qualifying family relationship:
- Past or present spouses
- Parents of the same children
- Parents and children
- Stepparents and stepchildren
- Foster parent and foster children
- Other persons living or formerly living in the same household
If the parties do not have a qualifying family relationship, then the plaintiff may only seek a TPO under the stalking portion of the Family Violence Act. Stalkingis defined under Georgia law when he or she follows, places under surveillance, or contacts another person without the consent of the other person for the purpose of harassing and intimidating the other person.
Harassing and intimidatingis defined in the law as a knowing and willful course of conduct directed at a specific person that causes emotional distress by placing such person in reasonable fear for such person’s safety or the safety of a member of his or her immediate family, by establishing a pattern of harassing and intimidating behavior, which serves no legitimate purpose.

Secondary Metal Recyclers
This new law requires each Sheriff’s Office in the state to register secondary metal recycling businesses in the county; keep a record of each registration; and enter the registration into a statewide database searchable by all law enforcement agencies. Businesses and individuals may download the Secondary Metals Recycler Registration Form and Checklist or by visiting Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office headquarters.
Complete and submit the registration form. A $200 non-refundable registration fee must be paid in person to the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office.
- Payment must be made by cash or money order payable to the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office
- Business and personal checks are not accepted; Identification needed
- Citizenship; Qualified alien status
- If you are a qualified alien, secure and verifiable documentation must be attached to the application
Each registration period is valid until December 31st of the registration year, with the effective date being the date that your application was received and accepted by the Sheriff's Office.
