The Annual Notice of Assessment is a written explanation of the appraised and assessed value of the property described in the notice. Notices are mailed to all property owners each year. Please keep in mind the appeal period for an Annual Notice of Assessment is within 45 days of the date located in the upper right-hand corner of the assessment notice.

An Annual Notice of Assessment is not a tax bill. The notice informs the property owner of the current fair market value as calculated by the Board of Tax Assessors and the appraisal staff, as well as provides the property owner the assessed value (40 percent of the fair market value) of their property (O.C.G.A. 48-5-7).
