Community Outreach Advisory Board

The Community Outreach Advisory Board was established December 18, 2018 by Resolution (Chapter 2, Article V, Division 2 of the Gwinnett County Code of Ordinances) to provide direct citizen support of Gwinnett County’s community outreach initiatives.

The Board consists of nine (9) residents of Gwinnett County to be appointed by the Board of Commissioners as follows:

  • One (1) member appointed by the Commission Chairwoman
  • One (1) member appointed by Commission District 1
  • One (1) member appointed by Commission District 2
  • One (1) member appointed by Commission District 3
  • One (1) member appointed by Commission District 4
  • One (1) member of the Gwinnett 101 Citizens Academy Alumni Board
  • Three (3) members of Community Partner Organizations
Term
Members serve a one year term at the pleasure of the Board of Commissioners and may be removed by a majority vote of the Board of Commissioners at any time. 
Meetings

Generally, meetings are held at least five times per year at the Gwinnett Justice & Administration Center, Conference Room B, from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. A meeting schedule is adopted each January. Qualifications

Members must be residents of Gwinnett County. If District Commissioner appointment, must reside in commission district.

Responsibilities / Powers

The Community Outreach Advisory Board shall:

  • Promote Gwinnett County’s Community Outreach Program
  • Encourage citizen involvement in volunteer opportunities
  • Support the community outreach efforts of Gwinnett County by engaging diverse groups of community stakeholders (senior citizens, college students, ethnic groups, disabled persons, etc.)
  • Connect county residents to the various services of Gwinnett County government
  • Partner with community groups and organizations to provide forums, multicultural festivals, and other educational programs and events
  • Advise and recommend to the Board of Commissioners additional community outreach initiatives
  • Adopt such bylaws and rules as are necessary to govern its proceedings
  • Perform other duties in support of Gwinnett County’s community outreach initiatives
