About Parks & Recreation
Mission
The Gwinnett Parks and Recreation Department is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all residents by providing exceptional parks, facilities, and programs that inspire healthy, active, and connected lifestyles.
Gwinnett County is a great place to live, work and play! One of the many benefits is your award-winning parks and leisure activities offering a never-ending source of fun activities any time of year. From a stroll on a trail, to playing a sport, to a fitness or pottery class, there is something for everyone at Gwinnett County Park & Recreation!
Many parks feature lovely views of woodlands, lakes, meadows, streams and gently rolling hills. The parks include several historic sites and museums to help you explore the past and enjoy Gwinnett County history. On an average day, the Community Recreation Centers are filled with a multitude of activities and events for infants to senior citizens.
Gwinnett boasts year-round recreation classes, special events, summer day camps, skate complexes, leisure activities, art classes, swimming pools, tennis courts, disc golf courses, sports fields, and much more! We strive to meet the recreational needs of every resident in Gwinnett. So come enjoy your parks and experience the best Gwinnett has to offer!
An Elite Parks and Recreation Agency
In September 2022, Gwinnett County joined the ranks of elite park and recreation agencies across the country by earning accreditation through the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) and the National Recreation and Park Association.
CAPRA measures an agency’s overall quality of operation, management, and service to the community.
The accreditation indicates an agency has met rigorous standards related to the management and administration of lands, facilities, resources, programs, safety, and services.
As part of the accreditation process, Gwinnett Parks and Recreation demonstrated compliance with more than 150 recognized standards and documented all policies and procedures. For more information about CAPRA accreditation, visit NRPA.org/CAPRA.
