Director:
Joe Sorenson

Joe earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Georgia and began his public relations career with Gwinnett County in 1991. Since 2000, he has led the County’s communications efforts, overseeing creative services for other County departments and agencies: public relations, research, writing, editing, media relations, photography, video production, event planning, and audiovisual system consultation and management. He resides with his wife, a Gwinnett Public Schools kindergarten teacher, and his twin sons in the Grayson area of Gwinnett County.

Heather’s career with Gwinnett County started in 1998 when she was hired to manage public relations and marketing for the Parks and Recreation Division. Three years later, she was recruited to oversee public relations in what was then the Communications Office. Since then, she has played an instrumental role in the creation and expansion of the Communications Department.
Heather previously worked in public affairs for the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, as fundraising and communications director for the Big Bend Division of the March of Dimes, and as an account manager for a health insurance company. She earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations and Spanish from Florida State University and studied with the Spanish American Institute for International Education in Seville, Spain.
Outside of work, she enjoys traveling with her husband.
Multimedia and Video Production Division Director:
Trent Bumgardner

Trent began his career with Gwinnett County as a member of the video production team in 1999. In 2006, he was promoted to manager of the Multimedia and Web Communications section where he led the County’s web content administrators and video production staff until he was named the Multimedia and Video Production Director in 2022. He has more than 25 years of video production and communications experience.
Trent earned his bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University focusing on video production and was a participant in the Olympic Host Broadcast Training Program. He kicked off his production career with Atlanta Olympic Broadcasting working as a point-of-view camera operator for the 1996 Summer Olympics.
He currently resides in Auburn with his family.
Web Administration Director:
Galina Kucheryavaya

Galina began her career with Gwinnett County in March 2005. She was appointed as the Web Administration Director in 2021.
Galina’s team is charged with managing the website you are currently viewing. Her team is responsible for site design, navigation, site development, content changes, graphics, and responses to public inquiries to the Webmaster's inbox.
Galina earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems from Clayton State University and has more than 20 years of experience in various web development, web design, and web administration roles.
She currently resides in Dacula with her family.
Brand and Design Division Director:
Abby DeReimer

Abby began her career with Gwinnett County in 2008 as a public relations intern. She has held several positions since her internship, including Graphic Designer and Visual Communications Manager. She was promoted to Branding and Design Division Director in October 2021.
Abby’s team is charged with maintaining the integrity of the County’s unique visual brand and enhancing messaging through graphic design and photography.
Abby holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications with a focus in Public Relations from Kennesaw State University as well as several professional certifications in graphic design, branding, photography, and government management and leadership.
PR and Marketing Division Director:
Jeanie Donaldson

Jeanie began her career with Gwinnett County in 2017 as a Public Relations Specialist before serving as PR Supervisor and then PR Manager. She has led the Public Relations and Marketing Division since 2021, helping shape the content and strategy behind the County’s messaging to residents, businesses, and visitors.
Jeanie is a proud Double Dawg, having earned her bachelor’s degree in public relations and Master of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication with an integrated advertising and public relations concentration from the University of Georgia. She is also a graduate of Gwinnett County’s Internal Management Academy, where she earned a Certificate of Local Government Executive Leadership from the Carl Vinson Institute of Government.
Fiscal & Administration Division Director:
Olivene McGregor

Olivene McGregor began her career with Gwinnett County in 2013 as an intern in the Communications Division. In 2016, she returned to the County as an Administrative Support Associate in the Department of Water Resources. Within her first year at DWR she was promoted to Business Service Associate III. Later she was promoted to Program Analyst in the Construction and Engineering Division as the lead GIS customer service representative. In May 2021, she became the Business Officer in the Communications Division and later named Fiscal and Administration Division Director in the newly created Communications Department.
Olivine leads the department’s fiscal and administrative support functions, including the County’s print process and information desk services.
Olivene earned both her bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration specializing in information systems and earned her master’s degree in organizational management specializing in public administration from the University of Arizona Global Campus.
She lives in Grayson with her youngest daughter.
Media Relations Manager:
Deborah Tuff

Deborah Tuff began her career as Gwinnett County’s Media Relations Manager in May 2021. Prior to joining the Communications Department, she worked nearly 20 years in various television roles including, reporter, anchor, host, and executive producer in numerous media markets across the country. Her most recent stint was at 11 Alive News in Atlanta.
Deborah serves as the County’s spokesperson and leads media relations efforts. Her team is charged with working with the media to keep Gwinnett residents informed. The media relations team also develops original news stories through the County’s Eye on Gwinnett and Go Gwinnett programs.
As an award-winning journalist, Deborah has been nominated for Emmys, served on an Edward R. Murrow Award winning team, named Media Personality of the Year, and has received Associated Press Awards. However, her greatest achievement is being a mom to three children. She resides in Gwinnett with her family.
Marketing Analytics Manager:
Dan Cassavaugh

Dan began his career with Gwinnett County in 2021 and has served as the Marketing Analytics Manager since 2022. With more than 10 years of experience in marketing, Dan is responsible for measuring and reporting effectiveness of marketing campaigns, identifying opportunities to inform marketing and communications through data analysis, and providing guidance on measurement and goals for other teams across the organization.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ithaca College in New York and has previously worked as a reporter, radio broadcaster, and digital marketer.
Dan currently resides in Lawrenceville with his wife and daughter.
