Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson presented her 2025 proposed budget of $2.65 billion to the Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, November 12.

It consists of a $2.1 billion operating budget and a $542 million capital improvements budget, which includes funds from the County’s Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax program.

Chairwoman Hendrickson’s proposed budget addresses challenges facing the County, including health care, affordable housing, and sustainability.

Initiatives in the budget include:

• Enhancing E911 communications
• Introducing community services aides to support the Police department
• Improvement and expansion of water and sewer services
• A focus on redevelopment and small area plan studies as part of the 2045 Unified Plan
• A focus on resident workforce development
  
  

As part of the budget development process, department directors and elected officials presented business plans for 2025 to three Gwinnett residents recruited by Chairwoman Hendrickson. The group reviewed departmental requests and made recommendations to guide spending for next year.

Commissioners will hold a public hearing on December 3 at 6:30pm in Conference Room C on the second floor of the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center. Additionally, residents can share their input on the County’s website through December 31. The Board of Commissioners will consider the 2025 budget at their first meeting of the new year on Tuesday, January 7.
