Experience AAPI arts and culture at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center

In recognition of 2024 Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, an exhibit honoring the AAPI community will be open to the public for the entire month of May in the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center Atrium. This year’s exhibit highlights the rich variety of cultures and customs represented by the AAPI community, from popular cuisine and holidays to various religions and languages. The AAPI Heritage Month exhibit will be open during regular business hours.

In June 1977, U.S. Representatives established Asian Pacific Heritage Week to be celebrated each year at the beginning of May. The following year, President Jimmy Carter signed an annual event into law, and the first celebration took place in May 1979. In 1992, the entire month of May was designated as Asian Pacific American Heritage Month by President George H. W. Bush. The annual celebration has grown to honor the many contributions and accomplishments of Asian and Pacific Islander Americans.

Gwinnett residents are also invited to celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander arts and culture at the 2024 AAPI Heritage Night Celebration! The event will take place at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center Auditorium on Wednesday, May 29 from 6:00pm to 8:30pm. Join Gwinnett Community Outreach for a vibrant evening of performances, food, and more! RSVPs are strongly encouraged for seating and food priority. Reserve your spot at GwinnettCounty.com/AAPICelebration.
